All the children at our school receive the support they need to learn, explore, communicate and have fun together. For those with special educational needs or disabilities, this might mean they need some extra help or additional resources.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) is Ruth Hirst. She began her SENDCo career in 2014 so brings a wealth of experience to the school ensuring our young people have access to the provision they need to develop and progress.
Her commitment and passion underpins everything she does. It is her ambition to provide the best provision and support for families and children with additional educational or medical needs so they are fully included in every aspect of school.
Our SEND offer is very much a team effort; working with teachers, teaching assistants, parents/carers and specialist services who all play a vital and unique role.
Mrs Hirst, SENDCo
Mrs Hirst became a SENDCo because she is passionate about having a positive impact on children’s lives; particularly those who have disabilities, learning disorders and developmental delays.
Quite often, these children are unable to speak for themselves and Mrs Hirst finds ways to communicate with them so she can be their voice. Inclusion is a fundamental part of our school and one of the aspects of her role is to work with the staff team to ensure that our most vulnerable children are involved in all aspects of school life.
If you would like more information, or would prefer to come into school and meet the team, please contact us via email or phone and ask to speak to the SENDCo team.
