Online Safety
At Field Lane, we see online safety as an integral part of safeguarding. Online safety is part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school. As children grow older and go further up school, their access to different types of technology increases too. The positives of the digital world overwhelmingly outweigh the negatives but children, schools and parents all need to be aware of various online risks. In school, we do a variety of activities to educate our young people about the importance of online safety. For example, we look at online safety during computing lessons and also during our PSHE lessons.
You can read our Online Safety policy by going to the policies section on our school website.

The website www.internetmatters.org has lots of useful information on how parents can support their children at home with online safety. Click on the image below to download a parents guide for primary school aged children.
It is important to be aware of screen time and balance the amount of time young people spend online. Too much screen time can have an adverse effect on their physical and mental health.
