Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Trust safeguarding vision:

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do for all members of our Trust community. Fostering a secure environment that empowers and protects, ensuring positive outcomes and wellbeing for everyone, irrespective of their needs or their background.

In the event of an urgent Safeguarding issue, please contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) on 01924 326378.

Our DSLs are:
Asif Lorgat (Headteacher)
Francesca Dobson (SENDCo)

Safeguarding Governor: Sanah Islam

Please make sure you and your child are aware of the following information regarding Water Safety.

Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is available on the policies page.

All members of the Field Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School community aim to establish and maintain a safe and stimulating environment where children:

  • feel secure

  • are safe from harm

  • are encouraged to talk to adults they can trust

  • are listened to

Through regular training, all staff are able to recognise the signs of abuse and understand their responsibilities when a child may be at risk of harm.

All staff are responsible for recording and passing on any concerns to  the designated staff. We also commit to working in partnership with external agencies in order to support and protect children.

It is everybody's responsibility to make sure children and young people feel safe and cared for. It is important that you know who to speak to if you are concerned about  ANY child in or out of school. Passing on information could help to safeguard young people.

You can speak to any of our staff in confidence about any issues regarding the safety and well-being of children.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Only children free from physical and emotional harm will develop to realise their full potential and entitlement.

Whilst we always strive to work confidentially and in partnership with parents, it should be noted that, where there are concerns relating to the safety of a child, in some situations, it is necessary to share information with other agencies and authorities without parental consent.

Safer Recruitment

In line with the ‘Safer Recruitment’ guidance, all staff, including volunteers who have access to children, in our school have been carefully selected and screened and all have had enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks. Should allegations be made against members of staff we will follow LA guidance in dealing with them. This guidance ensures that the safety of the child is paramount.

Policies

Parents and carers send their children to school each day with the expectation that the school provides a safe and secure environment in which their children can flourish. We, therefore, have to ensure that this expectation becomes reality. In order to achieve this, a wide range of measures are in place.

Governing Body

The Governing Board keeps these policies under regular review. They ensure the Head Teacher provides termly updates on safeguarding as part of her report to Governors. The Governing Board appoints a named Governor for Child Protection and Looked After Children.
